The first legend says that many years 1)… there lived a famous bogatyr. His name was Menesk. He lived near the 2)… over the Svisloch River. The bogatyr was very 3)… . He built a windmill on the river Svisloch near the road. Menesk didn’t use flour to make 4)…, he made bread from stones. Brave (храбрый) and strong people came to Menesk and started to 5)… near the windmill. So, Minsk got its name after bogatyr – Menesk.

Another legend says that Minsk was 1)… on Menka River. It was 16 km away from 2)… Minsk. In the 11th 3)… the people left the Menka and started to 4)… on the Nemiga River but they kept (сохранили) the old name – Mensk. Some 5)… think that the Nemiga River had another name (еще одно название) in the past. The Nemiga River was called the Meniga River and gave Minsk its name.
